Project Background:

As gyms grow their technology offering for their exercisers, the number of software platforms needed is increasing. Additionally, Life Fitness recognized the need to remain the market leader, adapting from a hard goods equipment manufacturer to product-enabled digital solutions. These solutions can be transacted and hosted in a single, all-in-one digital tool and provide everything from member management to maintenance and exerciser programming.

 
 
 

Process

With extreme time constraints, I worked with our Digital Category and Software Directors to establish the go-forward vision and scope to carry the project forward. After a week of all-day white boarding and discovery sessions, we identified the features and product experiences that would be integrated into our platform and hosted a formal kickoff in December of 2017 to align all functions.

Leaning on ongoing research to validate site architecture, we expanded our navigation scheme establishing top, secondary and tertiary patterns to enable a full integration. Leading the design effort across four design teams, five development teams and QA across the globe, we established a new visual language to drive to a cohesive experience across the standard and premium offering. With the need to re-establish our position and introduce the new concept in the marketplace, my team partnered with our creative services group and marketing teams to launch under the new brand, an equipment agnostic experience known as Halo Fitness.

Results:

In just three months, we mobilized from project kickoff to a full rebrand, feature integration, transition to e-Commerce and a launch at IHRSA 2018, and made the offering available in three languages. Formerly known as LFconnect, we launched as Halo Fitness, a complete and robust digital tool, combining a free standard offering, four paid plans and additional upgrade features for purchase across web and mobile.

To date, we have had seven sustaining releases to fulfill the full product launch and stabilization of the platform, with paid customers across six countries.
