Project Background:

APIs have gained traction for developers and have allowed products and gyms to more deeply embed their experiences on Life Fitness equipment. With a growing rate of production, it was time for the outdated and unmaintained API portal (formerly known as LFopen) to relaunch into a productive tool for partners, developers and product managers.

We first had to dissect the current site and understand its functionality, including how to find developer documentation. Our primary goal was to follow the conventions of familiar API sites like Nest, Payeezy, LinkedIn, Uber and more, and ensure that our basic and endpoint documentation was up to date, accurate and easy to find.

Results:

With the launch of Halo Fitness, we launched a new portal with easy-to-find navigation, divided between native and API documentation. With a new foundation, we are able to propel our API offering to the future vision for our partners. From a design perspective, we are able to reduce complexity, sharing styles and driving a consistent brand for Halo Fitness.
